Big trout on bass lures !! I learned this trick while I lived on top of the rocky mountains. fish have no eyelids so the only way for them to adjust the amount of light is to find cover or go deeper. also just about any trout over two pounds is a caniable they feed on other fish!!also the big fish are nocturnal feeders. So I started fishing on the cloudest days and dug into my box and started using some big billed crank baits and low and behold I started to catch the big ones 10 and 12 pound browns and rainbows. I tested this theory on many occasions and it worked every time for a number of years. the low light levels brought out the big ones to feed and using a larger imitation fish gave them what they liked to eat. I used this theory on Granby resivior, Grand lake, shadow mountain resivior, willow creek and williams creek resivior and caught some of the biggest stringers to ever come out of those bodies of water on a regular basis. Fair weather HA! not for me I'll take a dark cloudy day when all the rest are sitting at home I'll be out there catching the big ones.

You are definatly correct. I have found this to be expecially true with big browns.

W/light gear even small ones are fun using panfish poppers even in the smallest creek.

My daughter (6) got third place at a kiddie pole tournament by catching a 3 lb. rainbow one hour after dark using a nightcrawler and garlic. Amidst the bats, mosquitos, and darkness she won third place! I agree, in South America they catch them better on cloudy days and before/ after the sun shows!
