Hello everyone, I have moved to San Antonio, TX and looking for places to go fishing. I do not own a boat so I spend my time from the shore. Looking for good fishing spots within a hour of any direction of San Antonio and also maybe some people who are looking for fishing buddies willing to spend the day on a lake, river, or even out on trips in the Gulf.

    John

hopefully that will get you started in the right direction. im from East Tx so unable to help you anymore but we have a few members from the area and im sure they can be alot more help. From reading around here alot apparently Lake Calaveras is a popular destination.

Hey there John, and welcome to San Antonio.
I fish Calaveras or Braunig Lakes, which are within Bexar County. Both lakes are great for Catfish, Hybrid Striper, as well as Red Drum.
Calaveras is where you will find me every two weeks, right off the pier. Let me know what your schedule is and perhaps we can meet up some day.

It looks, as of now, that a couple of people from work and I will be at the pier at Calaveras Lake on Sunday night, June 5. You, as well as any others, are more then welcome to join.

Weel, plans have changed, due to work. Won't be at the lake now until June13. You"ll find me at the pier. Remember, the park will close at 8 PM and not open again until 6 AM.

hey John, I retired from Army last summer and live in San Antonio.

You may want to check out the Fort Sam outdoor rec and see about renting a boat. I've fished Calaveras and Braunig, quite frankly, using a boat is the way to go there.

I've got a group of guys and we try to get out a couple times a month to fish, though though usually it only ends up two or three of us which is nice cause we usually rent the 18 foot boat.  there have been times where we've upgraded to the pontoon.......   . Now the summer is heating up, we'll shift to the evening/night fishing. if you are interested, let me know. There is a another state specific forumn where a lot of local San Antonio fisherman talk, though the message board I read is the one dedicated to Catfish.
