I've read a bunch of posts or articles about using 80# fluoro leaders. Getting ready for our annual trip to Eagle Lake in W. Ontario so I picked some up for us to try. What I haven't read is how to tie it. Dang, if I can't figure out how to tie it, I can always use it in my lawn trimmer. This stuff is thick - at least twice the diameter of my 50# Power Pro. Any advice on creating leaders with this stuff?

That is one reason I've yet to try it. Not only hard to tie, but just how strong is the knot? I think the knot could be the weakest link. I'm not a good knot tier so I'm leary.

yea it is a bit stiff i use a uni knot or a loop knot
to add the cross lock and barrel swivel one can also buy sleeves .

other wise use a double uni or an albright knot to join the leader to the line .

I used the albright knot to joined the two. I tied only swivel eye with the seaguar knot. It was on the product labe after all I got the 80# InvisX.

the nice thing about the double uni knot is it will go through the tip of most rods and give you notice as to when to figure eight as you will here and feel it
musky hunter mag has a article where Greg Thomas uses a hybrid leader system like 24- 36inches of 80 lb floro then a 4- 6 inch single stand wire leader with a stay lock snap
line from rod to floro is a double uni knot .then to atach the leader he uses a clinch knot
Take a kid fishing , If the fish aint biting entertain them.

does the 80lbs flurocarbon work pretty good as a leader? Any time i fish without a wire leader i worried a larger northern or musky is goin to cut my line.

I have recently started using two lengths of 30# Power Pro or the like side by side on the theory that if one is cut, the other gives you a second chance. Tom
