One time I went down to Florida to go monster bass fishing. Now I'm pretty confident with my arsenal and abilities, but I'm from Jersey so I asked a couple of locals what did they use as bait....besides what I already had they told me to use live shiners. So I buy a a half dozen to try them and go fishing. Now I brought just 2 poles, so I hook up a shiner with a bobber on one and I start fishin' with rubber worms on the other. Not even 10 mins after putting the shiner in the water I get a massive strike, bobber goes flying under. So I throw the one pole down and run to grab the other when I get about 2 feet from it and it goes flying in the water. I curse up a storm and needless to say besides losing the pole, I couldn't get over the loss of the "monster" fish that not only got away, but stole my pole.Anyway fastfoward 2 days later and I go back to the same general area to fish again because besides being bummed out I did have an awsome day fishing 2 days before. Well about an hour or so fishing I get a hit on a shiner and catch a huge gar with line sticking out of his throat. Being the conscious fisherman that I am I remove my hook and cut the line in his mouth. I release the fish and start to ball up the old line to get it out of the water......and believe me or not, when I pulled this line up, on the end of it was MY pole!!!! I could'nt belive it myself and when I was done rejoicing, I sat back and realized, not only did I get to catch the one that got away, I got to catch the one that got away and stole my pole. I swear to you this is a fact and is the one and only great fishing story I have.
