I've done well with the Berkley power baits and the gulp alive in the little jar.  I've also done well with Mister Twisters and Little Atom plastics too.

I have used the Mister twister before and the gulp, but I seem to do better with more clear plastics. it seems all the store bought plastics are always to milky or cloudy.

This spring I've been doing quite well with Roadrunner Crappie Thunders, Mini-mites and Nail-tails (Cabela's brand of Mini-Mites), with the Mini-mites my go-to bait for both crappies and gills when the bite is tough. On sunny days, color is pink, motor oil or orange. Cloudy days is black w/chartreuse or white w/chartreuse. During the ice fishing season, we have been using Marmooska jigs tipped with 1" strips of bright colored plastic. I haven't broken them out on the boat yet, but will try this weekend. The plastic tails come in 6 packs, but can't remember the brand name of them. Of course, there are always the tried and true Mister Twisters and Beetle Spins. As far as jig sizes go, 1/32 to 1/8 ounce is perfect, unless you get into a school of larger crappies, then you could go up to 1/4 ounce. Hope this helps.

My wife and I went out to a lake in SE Wisconsin this past Saturday and pounded the crappies. We could have both had a limit, but after keeping enough for a meal, we started throwing them back. Most of the females were spawned out already, the males were very black in color. All fish were caught on mini-mites, Bro's Blood worms, or Lindy plastics on 1/32 ounce jigheads set 18" below a bobber. Color didn't seem to matter much. We found them in a downed tree that stuck out 20-25 feet into the water and cast as far in as possible without getting hung up. After a few twitches of the line the fish usually inhaled the plastics. If the bite didn't happen right away, we swam the jig slowly back to the boat and they would hit it on the retreive. Water temp was 65-68º and the algae bloom was already in effect.
