OK Experts, Been so long...how do you clean a snapping turtle? Unfortunately we don't have a rain barrel,so we'll have to skip that step.

Get astout stick. let him bite & pull his head out, cut it off with hachet, or put a 22 thru it. Then nail head to tree belly side out. cut shell connections with side cuts. With a sharp knife&good plyers pull by foot-leg oout& split skin on inside length of leg & peel skin off. The reason for cutting inside shell is to get back meat---uuuuhm! 7 kinds of meat in turtle&its all good! FRIED OR IN SOUP WITH BOUILLA BASE. THATS FANCY FOR RICH TOMATO BROTH. GOOD LUCK& ENJOY. OH YEA HE WILL STLL BITE WITH HEAD OFF& WILL PULL BACK ON LEG. I POP THEM&PUT A 16 PENNY THRU HEAD. i used to catch em on lines, single hook&beef talon.

This one is kinda small. About the size,in circumfrence,of the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket. Neighbor shot it in the face with a bb gun,put a couple of small holes in top shell at close range. I know I can clean it but it is small. It's still alive. Got it in a bucket with some water in it, by the grill. I claim to be a conservationist. I don't fish just to claim trophy's nor do I kill just for the fun of it. I think it will survive. But it needs to grow up a bit. If I thought it would die, from it's injuries,I would go ahead and put it out of it's misery. Just walked outside and it looks like it is coming back to life.  Thank you for your answer to cleaning. Think I will take it over to Nimisila Reservoir and turn it loose. Thank you .

Let him go. Sent you an email about pricing a fishing trip for a dear friend or two of mine.
