Bass fishing in deep clear river water

I'm looking to take a bass fishing trip this weekend and I will be fishing in a river with deep water,rock dikes,stumps and bluff banks. The last trip I made I chunked every bass bait in my tackle box and caught zero fish. Does any one recomend a lure and what color to try? Any help would let me know where to start.
