I have 1 question and 1 idea ! Question 1> How many Life Members are there?
Idea 1> I'm not sure if or how the field testing works! But my own opinion is to have only Life Members to be Field Testers. After all life members have and wanted to be with this club. Also we as life Members are here to stay and not like the yearly members that gets the gifts and then leave! So what do you think as life Members having to be the only one to testing products. Also if you as a L-M, already tested a product you should wait to get another test product until all L-M have had a testing! Dennis |

I agree that lifers should have more field testing opprotunities. However field testing is a big draw to attract new members(even though it seems that there are issues with how field testing is presented to prospective club members). I think it would be harder to attract new members is field testing was not a benefit and it would be in my mind difficult at best to sign someone up as a life member right from the begining. I think most of us were monthly members for at least a little time before deciding to jump in all the way. It would be great for life members to have upgraded field tester benefits such as that of trophy members.

WHY!!!!! The field test oppurtunities should have gone to ALL members, as promised. Not a new deal where if you pay more money we will give you the bigger and better toys. That means the bigger and better toys where taken away from YOU and given to someone else for a dollar. Thats something we should all be complaining about......but no one is.

exactly. My thoughts were along the lines of the field testing being a good thing to bring in new members who may potentially become life members. Take away benefits and you stop the club from growing. I would hate to see that happen. Brian |

I'm a trophy member and I don't have any more upgraded field tester benifits than you do. When I upgraded to Trophy Life member I got a pair of pliers and spool of fire line. the pliers are good and I wouldn't use fire line if it were the last line on earth. However I do agree that lifers should be the testers. |

hhardy. This is off subject but I asked this question a while back on this forum. What do you think of the trophy member benefits? Just wondering if it is worth it.

I'm not sure it is worth the extra money. The only benefits that is worth a hoot is the free topo maps. Other than that they are the same as what you have. I think it's just another way to get more money out of us so Pannez can take more fishing trips on our dime. keep a tight line Harry |

What a great idea! Oooh, I have an even better one. How about revoking all non-life memberships so only those financially able to afford life membership can get into N.A.F.C.! Oooh, and make life membership $500, payable in one lump sum to eliminate even more potential members. I've been a member for four years. I'd love to be a life member and not have to renew membership every year or two, but for the last two years the economy has been in the toilet, my business is struggling, it's hard just to pay the bills and vendors and occasionally get out to fish, and you want me punished because I'm not as well off financially as you? Thanks a lot "friend". By the way, I've field tested 4 times in as many years. All small stuff, not much monitary value, but still a nice little surprise when they come. I'm sorry you didn't get those field tests. You obviously deserve them more than I. Phoenix Arizona ~N.A.F.C.~B.A.S.S.~BoatU.S.~N.R.A.~A.M.A.~ |

Maybe if you dropped BASS Boat Us and AMA (what ever that is) you could afford to be a life member. And for your information I did pay almost $500. At first I did it in payments until I SAVED enough to pay it off. |

to hhardy, i am a member of bass and i started out as a regular member and then went to life membership, it does not matter what you pay to what organization, does it matter if you get to test a product or the friendship of fellow fishermen. to bass or bass maybe i will see you out on one of the local lakes, i am just south of phoenix in casa grande |

B.A.S.S.- Bass Angler's Sportsmen's Society. The sanctioning body of many tournements.
BoatU.S.- Boat Owner's Association of the United States. THE organization of boater's rights. The A.M.A. or N.R.A. of boating. If you own a boat and are not a member, you do not take boating seriously. An upgrade of your membership entitles you to free unlimited towing on any inland water. I've taken advantage of this twice, just keyed my VHF radio tuned to channel 16, called for assistance, and a tow boat was there within 15 minutes.
A.M.A.- American Motorcyclist Association. THE organization of motorcyclist's rights. I'm a life member; 25 years of membership.
N.R.A.- National Rifle Association. THE organization of firearms owner's rights. I'm a life member; 20 years of membership.
As an employee, you obviously have no comprehention of the financial responsibilities of business ownership, you get your paycheck every pay period no matter how the company you work for is doing. My income depends on the amount of orders placed with my company. For the last two years the economy has been in the toilet for small business owners. I've been surviving on 1/3 of what I need to take in to pay basic household bills, pay my vendors, overhead, etc., and live reasonably comfortably (dropped satellite/cable t.v. this year, can no longer afford that luxury). When the economy finally improves once again, I plan on upgrading my N.A.F.C. membership to life membership.
Also remember, nobody forced you to go with the trophy level membership, if Steve Pennaz is going on fishing trips on your dime, it is because you offered it, not because it was extorted from you.
I see by your number of posts that you are a newby here at N.A.F.C. Welcome to the club.

Hi dstevens, I usually fish Lake Pleasant or Bartlett Lake, when I can get out. When business is good, I don't have the time, when it's bad, I don't have the money. I do try to get out at least once every other month. I'm aiming for June 18/19 at Lake Pleasant on the Agua Fria River. Perhaps we'll meet on the lake some day. Happy fishing. Dennis, I tend to be a reactionary person and I offer my apology if I came on over the top. Also, I may be wrong, but it is my perception the members at the higher levels (life and trophy members) receive test products of a proportionately higher value than those received by annual members. The products I've gotten to test were a package of soft plastic baits, slip bobbers, a shallow diving crank bait (very nice by the way) and something else that I have forgotten. At your level you should receive things like reels, rods, and better items. I got my first test item (the soft baits) at @ 6 months. I believe most members receive a test product within their first year, how long have you been a member, at each level?. I'm also not sure, but you may have to request a test application after upgrading your membership. I would check with member services on that. Happy fishing. Life member since 98` . Hooks and skeeter repelant for test products. Maybe 4 times in 12 years. Life members get the shaft on that deal also, unless your lucky. |

bass or bass, no problem about it, I just figured that your business is in problems and you just lashed out at the first derogatory remark! I have been L/M since 09 after almost year paying month by month dues! I'm also on disability due to a reckless or careless operation on the spine. So I do know what it means to be low funds! As for yearly members, I was a member that way several years! But I just figure it would stop this bickering on the forum, that is why I wrote it not for myself! Dennis |

I can tell you that in my opinion life members don't get upgraded field test priveleges. I have received in to test. a pair of clip on sunglasses, a flexable spoon and most recently a devise to clip your your lure to you rod. No bass boats or cool rods. of course I have not always kept up on my field test profile over the last 11 years. however now days there are other aspects of the club that are more important to than testing products. I was a little better off financially when I became a life member than I am now and I probably would not have joined now at all.

hey guys i would like to say that i got more and better things for the 8yrs. before i was a lifer-- couple of things every yr.--- ranging from hooks, sinkers, minnow buckets. to a tackle box and even a jacket and rain suit. and since i have become a lifer-- for almost 20yrs now-- i've have received only 6 items and nothing more than sun screen, which by the way leaked and was only half a bottle and all the contents in box was destroyed to the point that i had no idea what it was for almost 6 months. and the rest have been hooks and rubber worms-- that i haven't caught a single fish on yet in 2 yrs of trying. so as far as i can see, there are no benifits in becoming a lifer other than the fact that you don't have to pay for the mag. any more and i believe that the idea for the trophy member is to try and get some more many outof those that have been a lifer for as long or longer than i have. that have been getting their mag for free for the past few yrs. |

OK, well from the replies so far I think I'll just continue as an annual member. Doesn't seem to be any real benefit to upgraded memberships. Phoenix Arizona ~N.A.F.C.~B.A.S.S.~BoatU.S.~N.R.A.~A.M.A.~
