Where on the Potomac did you go? I fish for Smallmouth on the upper potion between Brunswick and Whites Ferry but kayak.

I am going this coming weekend.  I'm not sure where we are headed.  I agreed to go on a fishing weekend excursion with a few other guys.  I just wanted to head to the store to get some lures that will work on smallmouth and/or walleyes.  Let me know if you have any ideas.

I have never caught a Walleye. But they can be caught on the river. We are after Smallies. I use 4" tubes that we buy online. Althought this year I started to use Berkley Power Bait Tubes also. You should get something in the Green Pumpkin or Dirty Green colors. Get yourself some tube heads (they hide in the tube). When you get on the river cast upstream and let it hit the bottom and reel it in. If it gets stuck just paddle back and free yourself. Don't be afraid to cast in the eddies bhind the rocks, and under overhangs near the banks. Also the river is still up and moving at a good clip so if you anchor do it in shallow water unless you wanna get wet and loose your gear. Let me know were you guys are putting in and I may be able to get more specific.

so how did your trip go? Where did you go on the Potomac? I try to stay above the Paper Mill when I fish the Potomac, it just seems cleaner. I would not keep a fish below that point.
