Just yesterday I went fishing at my usual fishing spot in Kennesaw. I was using 10lb test and drag on my Southbend spinning reel was about 4/5 of the way completely tight. Every few days the bait/tackle supply shop releases water from their tanks into the ponds and I got there just in time. I rigged on a minnow to let it flow with the water like I always do and not ten seconds later my bobber just completely disappeared! I watched it sink with my jaw dropped, then I set the hook. I felt the tugs and pulls of the anonymous fish and without any warning my line snapped! With my only hook and float gone I was left in awe. Always double up on your tackle!
Fishing.. one of the few things in life that keep me sane.

    LOL's

Never go hunting with only one bullet.

Never go fishing with only one hook, line, and sinker; or bobber in this case. Most times, bring the extra pole or reel too.

Be thankful, at least you know there is one in your favorite spot. I have found it better to say "Quick Release"! Have fun next time.
    Uncle Tom
I built my own lure company as a young man--thus the name UncleTomsJigs. It grew so well I decided to give it up and go fishing with family, friends and especially grand children. I became disabled as a United Methodist Pastor IN 2002 and retired here in Coastal Georgia on a 10 acre lake where I continue to fish despite my disabilities. My wonderful wife and I enjoy fishing together. God has blessed us in so many ways and we pray the same for you. I am excited about having so many new friends all over this great country.

I'm not superstitious but after reading this I may have to change my mind.  Shortly after reading I took one of my dearest friends fishing to the the lake behind my home.  It was terribly hot but according to the Lunar calendar was one of the better days for the whole year.  We caught a couple of two pounders and came back in for light lunch and decided to give it another chance.Looking for a little shade I threw my favorite plug from tournament days in the mouth of a little creek and the water exploded.  Before I could get hold of the net she had my rod doubled and went under the boat.  Something seemed wrong, then I noticed the line of my reel was caught under one of the rod holders I use for crappie fishing.  We both got a couple good looks at her--easily 24 inches long but the thing that really caught my eye was her tail.  It was as wide as hand with it spread open.  Needless to say my line broke and the fish was gone with my favorite lure.  I spent yesterday going through old tackle boxes to see if I had another--only hope Bass Pro might have one.  For those interested:  Bomber Long A in a mirrored Black back.  I know they make in a Prism color but am not sure it is same lure.  Uncle Tom

I've lost a 5lb largemouth trying to get him out of the water, it would''ve been my biggest fish ever.
My father lost an aprx 10lb, (I'm guessing) flathead catfish. The line snapped just as he was about to loosen the drag.
