I recently caught a carp that was well over 40" long and between 40 and 50 pounds,  my scale only goes to 25 pounds,  so i'm not sure of the exact weight.  the fish was caught on an ultralight rod and reel with 4 pound line.  I was wondering if anyone knows what the line class record is for common carp in illinois.  I tried to find out on the IGFA website, but i don't want to become a member to be able to view the line class records.  I know its to late to try and certify this catch,  but i know i can get another one in this size class, as there are atleast half a dozen this size in this lake.

Thank you for any info you can provide.

Not sure how up to date the records are, but the one I found on a couple different sites for IL fishing records list a 54lb common, caught 5/1/94 in Lake Hillcrest by Steve Davis.

Don't know what tackle he was using.

Illinois does not keep line class records. I don't think (without checking) you have a state record, but a fish that size certainly would qualify for a big fish award. Check the Illinois info book (available online www.dnr.state.il.us  ) Tom
