I am looking to find a good rod and reels for carp and catfishing for a reasonable price. It dosen't have to be a combo. thanks in advance for your help.

you might want to check out the woopin stick combos from cabelas. I have not personally tried these but they seem reasonably strong and reasonably priced. I am sure there are alot of differing opinions on the subject. so do a little checking around and reading reviews. I do not own a specific rod that I use for cats and carp. We are limited to channels here in utah and I just use a med spinning rod for most applications or sometimes a med heavy casting rod and bait caster reel. Diawa because thats what I have on hand.

The Cabela's King Kat combo's are also a good buy. While I don't own one, I did get the chance to fish one and was impressed. Easy on the wallet also! Tom

I've seen the Zebco Hawg Seeker and thought it was kind of neat.  Bite alert that lights up.

I use the Bill Dance Catfish Combo sold by Bass Pro Shops. I have 4 of these on my boat and have caught many large Santee Cooper blue cats on them with no problems. The spinning reel takes 100lb Braid line very nice.

The bill dance rod and reel combo is the best on the market right now I own one myself and it does live up to its reputation

Cabela's is my favorite place to be, but if you want a quick $30 solution, There is a rod and reel combo pre-loaded with 20lb test (crappy line but works) made by Berkley (Fusion Model) at walleyeworld. I have been pulling 'em now for weeks with this thing. Could have a smoother cast but is worth the cheap cost.

Here into central Ohio I use the abu garcia on a shackspear ugly stick have used this combo for over 20 years and still think its the best. Channels or Shovels it handles thejob very well. You will want to get the Abu Garcia 6000 with the bait clicker for those long nights on the river bank
