Anyone have any experience on Muddy Run Lake in Lancaster County, PA? Going fishing with my Dad who lives local. Never been on Lake. Plan to rent boat. Any advice on spots or tackle? Anyone have lake map? Thanks.

We do a good bit of bass fishing down there, not sure what your targeting? This time of year we usually do fairly well with crankbaits and rubber worms. I don't know of any maps for the lake. The bass can be caught pretty much anywhere, do some experimenting. They do stock it with trout, I have no advice for ya in that department.

Thanks Scott. My father lives in a local retirement community. One of the residents recommended this lake. We are renting a boat with an electric motor. Targeting Bass, Pike family (if there). Not interested in trout. Are the Bass along the shore lines in shallow water? Are there feeder streams? Is there a dam seperating the reservoir? Any idea what current lake temperatures are (spawning activity)? I am guessing that this must be a deep lake since there are trout. Is there an area of the lake where we are more likely to find Bass conditions? Thanks again.

I don't know what the water temp is, I haven't been down since early spring. I've heard there were pike in there at one time, in all my years fishing the lake I've never seen or heard of anyone catching any. There are walleye in there. Alot of the banks are fairly deep drop offs, if you fish the bank on the right beside the launch that one isn't quite as steep a drop off. The bass will lie up under the shore vegatation if you get your cast close enough. There is also trees in the water, make sure to work them. We catch them on the steep banks as well. There is a feeder stream that comes in back in the one cove but the water is very shallow in that area. There is a dam between the two reservoirs, the lower lake is bank fishing only and only a little of it is open to fishing. There is an island that isn't too bad to fish around either, I would suggest fishing the front side toward the boat rentals and around the left side. We never have much luck around the back side. The best shore we have found to fish is the deep bank to the left of the island that goes down to the dam.

Scott, did the power company re-open the lower lake to fishing again?

Thanks. We fished 6/13/10. Very deep lake. Fish finder measured up to 50 feet. Most fish were around structure 20-30 feet down. We mainly surfaced fished. Caught a 3+ lb Bass off a point on a rapala and several smaller along shore. Was too hot to sit over structure in sun. Look forward to cooler day to fish the structures.
