Hey everyone. I'm thinking about getting a bass boat. I'm not looking a for anything too expensive, but if you have any links, tips, pointers, referrals, or anything that can help me get off to a great start fishing on a boat, send 'em in. Thanks!

I'm in the same situation! I thought about a small boat, would prefer one with console steering and not a transom steer (is that right?) and a ~50Hp to start with.

If  you are a bass fisherman, a console by all means. For us multi-species guys, a lot of time a tiller boat gives more room to fish. Of course if the boat has to double as a family cruiser or tow boat, a walk thru might be the best choice. Tom

Sometimes you just have to pick a boat name that you like and go from there.  I personally like Ranger so I will look at some Ranger boat models first.  You also gotta ask yourself if you want aluminum or fiberglass boat.

Since we don't own a truck or trailer applicable vehicle, I was maybe looking for something a little more portable. Are inflatables good? What about a pontoon?

Even a small car is capable of pulling a light boat on a trailer, say a 14' jon or semi-vee with a small outboard or trolling motor. If you don't want to trailer you are limited to an inflateable or a folding boat such as the Port-A-Boat. Tom
