    Hi Everyone

Need to get some ideas on which technique works better for you when trolling for Lake Trout and Landlocked Salmon.  I used to troll in Lake Ontario for Salmon and Trout using Big Jon downriggers. Haven't tried in smaller lakes though.
I am planning of trying some of the Maine Lakes this summer.

What I would like to hear is what your experiences are using the technique of the 3-way swivel or using a downrigger. I have read mixed reports on whether or not to use the downriggers versus the swivel method.  Also, if using downriggers, should I keep the lure close to the cannonball or a long way  back?  Used to fish for walleye in Lake Erie using dipsies with a long line in order not to spook them.

    Thanks in advance.

    Gord
