The wife and I took a trip to our local Cabela's store today. This is the first time I have been in the store since they moved all the merchandise to the first floor. I couldn't find anything as every department has been shuffled. Oddly enough I was only able to spend $3 on fishing items (and that only because it was stuff on the clearance rack) but did get 3 nice shirts and the wife picked out a pair of sunglasses to replace the ones she lost in Ks. I was dismayed to find that they no longer stock the Eagle Claw 575 hooks (for jig head casting), now I have to find another source! Anyone else notice the downsizing? Tom

ours doesn't seem to be down sizing, course here they also have a huge distribution center so to answer your question, no I didn't notice. But I did notice that there seem to be more folks purchasing licences there from ohio and P.a. then I ever seen there. Cabelas is a great place, and I love to go there with my family.

Cabelas is fairly new here(Lehi Utah) Still going strong and always crowded on the weekends. My Boss is a cabelas fanatic. Befor they came here he and his son decided they wanted to check them out one weekend so he hopped in is car and drove from salt lake city utah to sydney nebraska( not sure on the milage) just to walk around for a couple of hours then turn around and head home. Still It would be nice to get a BPS here for a little competition.

On my next trip through Iowa I am going to stop and check out a Scheel's store. A buddy of mine says that they put everyone else to shame. We'll see! Brian is right about the competition, I am lucky to have a Cabela's, Gander Mtn. and BPS all within a reasonable drive. Tom
