When chosing a crankbait reel the first thing you should look at is the gear raito. A reel with a raito of 4.1:1 is a good choice. It has more power and slow speed. Pflueger makes the Trion in 4.3:1 however they are gitting hard ti find. Quantum makes several reels with a raito of 5.1:1 that are good for crankbaits and still have the low speed power. I wouldn't go much higher than that. Now the reel is only a part of the cranking system. The right rod completes the system. Crankbait rods are built to take the shock of the strike, they have slow tip with moderate action. St Croix makes four crankbait models from MOJO Bass to the Legends Tournament Series. Depending how much you want to spend but a good carnkbait rod make all the differance. Hope this helps you in choosing your system.
