    Picture # 1 from  Brian Beaman, says it shows a 27 inch walleye.  While it is a damn nice fish,  if you take a look at the tail you can clearly see that it is actually a sauger.  There is no white patch in the tip.  Just an FYI. Like I said though it is still an impressive fish and deserves to be seen.

    A 27" sauger is a lot more impressive than the same size walleye! Tom

    Hey Crash:
    Thanks for the post, but the fish is a walleye. Most obviously, it lacks the dark blotches along the sides that are characteristic of sauger. Plus, the world-record sauger (in both the National Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame and the IGFA books) is an 8-pound, 12-ounce fish caught in North Dakota in 1971. It would have been roughly the same length as this one. You can bet if Member Beaman's fish had been a sauger, it would have been in the news everywhere.
