I used a black six inch manns fire tail, water very clear. third cast hung into six and a half pound largmouth and cought four more at three to four an a half,The bass had been fanning the beds do to the redness aof ther tail.s. but wwhat would make a beding bass feed off livers off the bottom?i actully ahung one  on the livers.could it be an easy meal without haveing to chase it?

    Hey man,
I too have fished in small ponds and have caught bass on wierd things Ie.. Hotdogs, fishing for cats. Bass by nature are a predator fish, That being said its not uncommon for a bass (or any fish) to bite on a liver/hotdog. Conditons right, most fish can and will target other non-traditinal baits that they would normally not go for .
I would not recomend that you try to fish for bass or target fish with thoes baits. Might not have much luck. Threr are far better baits to catch fish with .
Condition 1) Food (Normal food) not in abundant supply.
Condition 2) luck of the draw, right place right time.
Condition 3) Spawn beds Pre spawn Female Post spawn Male (Bass)

So to answer your question, Yes it is conceivable that a bass will bite on livers.
