If memory serves, the 5600 is a bigger 5500. I loved my 5500 despite the fact that it was a left handed reel. If I ever get a good deal on a right hander, I'll buy it in a blink, otherwise I guess it will wait until I get back to work! Tom

The website shows schematics for over 30 different versions of the 5600...

There has been a wide range of prices for various models. For what ever model you are looking at, I would suggest doing some comparison shopping on the 'Net...to include Ebay.

I had no idea how many Abu models used the 5600 designation. I had a C4, current price about $90. The Abu BCX 5600 is normally around $60 and lacks some of the features of the C4. Tom

Just to let you guys know i just bought the reel yesterday. I also purchased a Ugly Stik Tiger rod. I spooled it with 30 lbs line. The guy at Elkhorn Outdoor Sports was nice enoughto give me free line since i was buying both rod and reel. The reel is real smooth and easy to handle. I also love the rod!!  Thanks for your help.  I'm mainly going to use it for river fish like catfish, stripers and otjher big fish!!

IF I had known that ahead of time....I would have recommended something in the 6000 series. IMHO....anything in the 5000 series will handle up to maybe 30 lb fish....but if you are dealing with catfish and stripers bigger than that....I'd have gotten a 6000.

I hope it works out for you.

There's several models of those too...with the BCX being the cheapest of them to the best of my knowledge.

    http://www.abugarcia.com/product_sc...6.228.1456

Some models don't have the full Thumbar...just a button that sticks up from the edge of the side plate, which wears your thumb out if you are doing a lot of casting. So if you look at some of the various schematics on that webpage you will see what I mean.

Also...any model # that has a "1" at the end (like 6501) is a left handed model.

    Hope this helps ya
