A minnow imitator like a Floating Rapala would be a good place to start. Tom

If not live then try zoom fluke type lures.

have you looked at some of the soft plastics shad style baits

I like to hook them so they lay on there side

bulltrout nailed it. sounds like any decent topwater minnow imitation or live if possible would work well. If the fish are bustin the minnows on the surface like it sounds like with the minnows jumping out of the water the bass are probably not spending alot of time examining what they are chasing. similar to stripers chasing a ball of shad or other baitfish. almost anything will be nailed.

let us know how it turns out.

If your talking about "hardware"--- 1/4 oz silver phoebes fished slowly outside of where the baitfish are rising. Lots of action at slow retrive and will take any fish that swims!
If you throw it on top of the "baitball" the bait will scatter. Fish it outside, imatating a lone fish and you my take more then one fish! Cast well behind where the fish are rising.
If the minnows are jumping out of the water as you said, they are , for sure being chased by bigger fish! go get em!

The Original Floating Rapala has always worked for me. The Jointed Floating Rapala is also good. If those two don't work go to a spinnerbait or a inline spinner.
