Any tips for fishing American shad? Can you use a jig under a slip bobber like you would for steelhead?

myself I use the old style shad darts but some of my buddies use very small beetle spin with a orange ,charturuse, or yellow mister twister style bodies (about 2'-3'' long). I have seen guys using a bobber but myself with the shad darts I use I don't use one, i just cast out and let drift till it is parallel with the shore then retreive it and start over. I usually get bit when the dart is almost to the shore . By the way I fish for shad almost exclusively on the Yuba river. If you can find the old style shad darts look for ones in red heads with white rear ends. TIGHT LINES TO YA !!!!!

Thanks cyber. I took your advice but after a full day of fishing found i was too far up the Feather for the shad. Should've talked to the locals sooner. I did end up with a couple of carp using your technique though. I will know better next time.

Another way, depending on how you are fishing. You can plunk for them using Dick Nites or Triple Teasers. I will add a photo tomorrow of said rig.
