Hello Greg, I have been in Iowa for the past year and a half, great bass fishing up there, as well as walleye and hunting of course. I am back in GA, Augusta area, if you are ever up in this area and I am not out of town, there is some good fishing here, particularly Clarke's Hill where they hold the big Bass tournaments. |

Hey Guys! Welcome to Georgia. There is great fishing all over the state. Lakes, ponds, rivers, creeks and you can hardly beat Coastal Georgia both inshore and offshore. Not to mention it is a hunting paradise! Uncle Tom |

| I built my own lure company as a young man--thus the name UncleTomsJigs. It grew so well I decided to give it up and go fishing with family, friends and especially grand children. I became disabled as a United Methodist Pastor IN 2002 and retired here in Coastal Georgia on a 10 acre lake where I continue to fish despite my disabilities. My wonderful wife and I enjoy fishing together. God has blessed us in so many ways and we pray the same for you. I am excited about having so many new friends all over this great country. |

Greg, West Point is a great lake. One of the best crappie lakes in Georgia in the fall & spring. Great night fishing. Of course in August with the heat you either have to fish the thermocline in deep water or look for shade early and late. First, you need a good map and secondly I would invest in a local guide if economically possible. You can pick up some good pointers from those guys. Check local fishing regulations--West Point had a gap limit on largemouth bass at one time which created some great bass fishing. Be glad to talk to you about building jigs if you like. I'm pretty limited mobility wise with two artificial knees, one hip, back surgery three times, and rotator cuff surgery once--ain't what I use to be but Thank God I still enjoy the beauty of all He has blessed us with! Uncle Tom Use that sun screen and stay hydrated! Good luck and good fishing! |

Greg, the more I thought about lures for your trip to West Point. I believe Rat-l-trap builds or use to build a West Point Special. Usually if you find a lure named for a lake it is pretty good. To the best of my knowledge it was kind of gun metal gray with some variations of blue and purple on the back. My legs don/t hold up for me to make a trip like that since I live only about 5 miles from the marshes and the Atlantic Ocean. You can always worm fish--I've been doing well again on most anybody's worm any shape or size in June bug and of course lizards in same color have been good for me. Uncle Tom |
