Bulltrout, you said it, common courtesy is rare unfortunately and it should be at the top of the list. Moose is correct: poor upbringing.

this is true--- courtesy is rare and way to much poor upbring.....in kids/people now days

as reading some of these stories, i've realized that in some ways when i was a kid i to was a bit not so courtesy........
i grow up in mi. were we get to go ice fishing for a good bit of the yr.. every time i went out on the ice i knew who to look for because i knew who was getting the fish or at least they knew where to look. i wouldn't move in on top of them, but i would move in as close as i dared.

but i was lucky, because these guys had more courtesy and a whole lot more upbring then me. they taught me alot of the things that i know now and use all the time to catch fish. i have shared some of that info throu out this forum, just like several of you guys and gals have done and just like you, i have been given a few thank you's along the way.

maybe we can all use a few positive sayings in here too. mix it up a bit.

We need to change the expression to 'ordinary' courtesy because it sure isn't common these days! Tom

I once gained access to a great pond for bass fishing well off the beaten path, I enjoyed it immensely and the landowners that lived not too far from the pond appreciated the fact that I was always quiet, and left no messes of any kind behind...well, to make a long story short, a pastor from another church asked me to see if I could get him on this pond...I was granted permission and said we'd go around 8 a.m. so as to not disturb their morning time...the pastor insisted that we had to be there at daybreak, I said "OK, but you have to be very quiet - no whoopin' or hollerin' if you hook into a nice fish"...he agreed...but, when he caught his first bass of size he started loudly carrying on...I asked him to not get so loud, but he continued to do so every time he caught a fish...thanks to this pastor I'm no longer allowed on this pond for fishing.

I don't blame the landowners at all...and, I should have declined to take him, my bad. Live and learn.
Roaming the banks of the Kankakee River and anywhere else fish may lurk...

"Fishing Rudeness" is why I fish at night. You don't get bothered by anyone. No stupid boats trolling around the shore. Only people that bother you are the DNR checking up on you.
