I fish in the erie canal (river, murky water) near a lock where there are 2 water falls (drop offs), there is also a nice rock pile or two. And i have been geting them on 3/8 ounce boohyah spinner baits, waky worms and other shad like soft plastics. I was wondering if there is a drop dead excellent smallie lure I shouldn't leave home with out?

I was fortunate enough to have a letter published in the club mag and in return recieved a Rapala DT-10 in Brown Crawdad. While I have yet to use it, it looks like a great lure for smallies. I should have had it with me today while fishing Chicago harbor for perch, I might have raised a smallmouth. Tom |

If the bottom isn't to snaggy, you can always through a jig with a craw soft plastic. I'd go with the smaller types which are 3 inches. |

4" tube (dark green pumpkin, avacado, green pumpkin, bluegill). Rigged with a gitzit glider and a 2/0 or 3/0 ewg worm hook. Bounce it off the bottom in or around the rocks, along the shore under low hanging branches and falldown. |

Thank you guys for the help I just purchased some yum dingers (4 in), a wiggle wart (in phantom craw), and some bitsy bug jigs. I think that will fit the bill nicely, but will experiment with some zoom flukes. How do u rig your flukes? |
