Here's some step by step instructions for showing your pics here on the BB.

The 1st thing you have to do is to resize them to between 500-800 pixels wide.
You can do this easily using the Paint program...follow the steps in these next 3 Screenshots.

Notice in the first seq. pic that the dimensions of my original pics are 2080 x 1540. By choosing the 33%, I get them to around 680 or so.

By doing "Save As", you create a new smaller pic, leaving the original one intact.

Once you've done this, you go to a "Hosting" website like www.photobucket.com and get a free account.
Some of the sites allow you to create sub-albums, so this is what I'm showing here.

Once you have the pics uploaded, then you have to Copy the "IMG" tag for each pic....

You then paste that "IMG" tag into a Post.

Once you have done this, the pic(s) should then show up in your post.

Dave you lost me at step by step. Just looks and sounds to comlicated.  why can't they just come up with an easy way to post pic's on here. I have some great bass pic's I'd love to post but I'm just not that computer savy. We should be able to post a pic as easy as adding icon ie. Why does everything have to be so damn high tech.

Sorry about the complication Harry..but I CAN tell you that some websites are limiting  / excluding picture uploads because there is software out there where you can hide viruses etc...within the picture file

I've seen a couple of videos about this on www.youtube.com

Which is a GOOD part of the reason why SO many email providers recommend that you do NOT click on emails that are NOT from someone you know..and for that matter...don't ASSUME that the attachment is virus free

JMHO...and I hope you folks don't take this post as a personal attack

Dave, you amaze me with your dedication! I can testify those steps just look complicated. But there might be a shorter method, possibly skipping the resize steps. I recently posted some photos about fish cleaning stations. I took photos and read them off the memory card onto my computer drive, all into a new folder. I opened Photobucket, named a new folder, selected some of the photos, then began the upload. Most of those original files were around 1 meg in size. Once they got in there I clicked on the Slide Show link for one post here, which works. I tried clicking on individual Image links in another post and those came through here too. Apparently Photobucket resizes while downloading. ???? Anyway, it might be worth looking into by someone else.

EDIT: I sure didn't know this site has a pixel limit. But I got by it.  Occasionally I've posted photos on other sites that do require a tiny pixel count, so I use the free version of Irfanview from irfanview.com. You simply open a file photo or document and select Resize, select whatever changes desired, then name it with the usual JPEG file type, then upload to Photobucket and Image Link it here.

Computers are funny in that way.

If you use photobucket, there is a photobucket photo edit. You can also manually tell it to resize. A photo size of 640x480 is a good large picture with enough details to share. It will load up faster too.

On mydigital camera, I just set my photo size according to my camera to get the 640x480 photo size. I think that's about the equivalent of a 3 megapixel file. I'll never need the full 8 megapixel setting on my digital camera.

You both bring up a couple of very good points here

Photobucket will resize your uploads according to a selection. Since MOST of the pics I take are of lures and such, I crop them on all 4 sides (usually) before upload, so I have to use the Paint program anyway. Cropping them eliminates the "dead" / useless parts of the picture and makes viewing of the items easier. A tour through Ebay fishing tackle auctions will show you what I mean and why I do this.

At the same time though, when I do scenary-type pics (like the ones I have links to in Member Meets about the La Crosse area scenary), then I use the choice on Photobucket of 1 megabyte as you guys mentioned.

On basic camera settings, my Kodak C300 takes pics of around 2000 x 1000 mp (as shown in the above screenshot) and approx. 750 kb. On the other hand, my Nikon GoolPix 7.4 takes basic pics of roughly 3000 x 2000 mp, with the file size being around 1.3 mb.

I HAVE used Irfanview for viewing files before...just never tried editing pictures with it

Yeap, sometimes you want to crop the picture to only what's pertinent. Sometimes you want to photoshop out the other parts of the picture.

I currently have a Kodak Easy Share M753 and see I've been using the setting 7.0 MP (4:3). I just discovered several options I haven't tried, down to 1.2 MP (4:3), have no idea what the ratio is about. There's a 5.3 MP (16:9) option! All my photos as unloaded from the 1G SD card are much larger files than I guessed at earlier, yet the final product coming to this site is drastically reduced.

I see the value of cropping a photo, haven't tried it yet. I guess I've been wasting a lot of server space, so will look that over when I get some time. Thanks for the guidance ya'll.

    You're more than welcome Jim.

4:3 and 3:2 are standard aspect ratios found in digital cameras...with 4:3 being more common these days as most digital monitors have this ratio.

16:9 is the most common for videos.

Here's 3 informative webpages if you guys would like some more reading. At the same time...spending a little time reading the manual that comes with a camera may help too....Good Lord knows I NEED to this coming winter

This is exactly what I have been doing, and it was working until after Febuary of this year and now when I do this all that is displayed is a box with a red x in it. But this procedure does work very well on the other sites that I monitor.
