No, the situation Steve had in Milwaukee is a bit different than the Waukegan-Winthrop Harbor area. Because Trout and Salmon are stocked into Milwaukeee harbor, they return there for a mock spawn. In NE Il, the fish do not enter the harbors so we have to go out and find them, usually in 50+ feet of water, usually 110-200. I'm getting out tomorrow for only the second time this year, I will update on Wed. Tom

like tom said, this method works best in the harbors or the river mouths and sometimes in the deep holes, but still close to the main lake. i have had had it work in lakes that hold trout.

My trip on Lk Mich got cancelled, there were only 2 of us able to go and the wind and waves made it impossible to fish the boat- above 2' waves the autopilot can't steer a straight course and the tangles can be immense! Tom

Do you mean "salmo" as in Salmo salar (Atlantic Salmon) or Salmo trutta trutta (Brown Trout)?

That was a typo, should have been salmon. While Lk Michigan has Atlantics and Browns, most fishermen target Coho in spring and Chinook (King) in summer with an occasional steelhead or brown as incidentals, along with Lake Trout. For some reason, lakers are considered 'undesireable' fish on SW Lake Mich. Tom

I realize that we are playin' a differant ball game then you folks, but it isn't uncommen for us to catch Chinooks in 150--300 ft of water while jiggin' for halibut.
