Just wanted to drop in and say hello, looking forward to exchanging info and learning a few things. I have recently gotten back into fishing now that my daughter is 3 1/2 and seems to enjoy it, she caught her first catfish recently and has been hooked ever since.

welcome to the club. congrats to your daughter on her first fish. My son is 3 1/2 also. One day soon he will catch his first fish. evertime we go to walmart he has to buy a new fishing item such as a bobber or a lure.

Look foreward to hearing more from ya.

I never thought I'd be able to take her but we went to a "catfish rodeo" at a local pond near a lock and dam in our area sponsered by the Army Corp of Engineers. She had a ball and caught a few stocked catfish. I decided to take her a couple of times since then and she is absolutely hooked (pardon the pun). Since I had my daughter I hadn't had nearly as much time for fishing so now that she's into it it's a good activity we can enjoy together. I better take advantage while I can because at some point in the not to distant future fishing with dad will no longer be considered fun or cool.

I know what you mean about not having time. I also have a four month old. hopefully she won't get tired of it or think its not cool to fish with dad when she gets older.

    Where ya from?

There's nothing my 10 year old granddaughter wants to do more than go fishing ( and really bugging me to take her hunting) with Grandpa. It's a baffeler too because neither of the 2 older or the 2 younger grandchildren or their parents could give a hoot about outdoor sports. Sarah is definately Grandpa's little girl!

my oldest son...22 and i have been fishing since he was a youngster. and now his lil sister who will be 4 in 2 weeks is following in his footsteps.its great to have our kids out with us and as long as its fun it will be cool with her, even tho she might not tell her friends she went fishin with dad when she gets older lol.my lil one cought her first fish earlier this year...a blue gill lol a few weeks later she cought her first trout and just 3 weeks ago her first bass on a night crawler!! today i got a good deAl on a 12 foot jon boat and when i came home with it on the truck she ran out and said "can we go fishing tonight daddy". i try to take her atleast once a week no matter how busy or tired i am it always puts a smile on my face to watch her eyes light up when she pulls her trophy from the water, and even more enjoyable to hear her tell every one she see`s about it lol.

Sounds like you had a great time!  I had a friend over the other day.  When he called he asked if it would be OK to bring his daughter.  Of course I said: "Sure!" thinking in the back of my mind she might like to play with my grand daughter.  My friend is 87 and his little girls is in her mid fifties.  All that to say the fishing seed you plant in her life now may last both of you a lifetime.  Enjoy every minute you share together and God Bless.  Uncle Tom
I built my own lure company as a young man--thus the name UncleTomsJigs. It grew so well I decided to give it up and go fishing with family, friends and especially grand children. I became disabled as a United Methodist Pastor IN 2002 and retired here in Coastal Georgia on a 10 acre lake where I continue to fish despite my disabilities. My wonderful wife and I enjoy fishing together. God has blessed us in so many ways and we pray the same for you. I am excited about having so many new friends all over this great country.

Hey welcome to the club kb5252. I too had a chance to take my 6 year old grand daughter fishing last week. She caught 15 perch and jsut had a ball and so did I watching the look on her face everytime she got one. The last thing she ask me before she left to go home is the next time she comes can I take her fishign again, and you know I said Yes. It sounds kike you may have a fishing buddy for a long time to come. Harry
