THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY!!!  I went to college in Kentucky and tried to fish every chance I got.  It was a great experience for me.  Some guys use to tease and say it was the " land of beautiful horses and fast women".  While I was there I met a beautiful young lady who is the love of my life and my best fishing partner.  Just wanted to thank you guys from Kentucky for letting that one get away.  After forty ones years she still lights my fire even when my wood is wet.  Happy Birthday Sweetheart!  Can I have this dance for the rest of my life?  Uncle Tom  Think I will take her out to dinner and spend the rest of the evening at Bass Pro Shop.
I built my own lure company as a young man--thus the name UncleTomsJigs. It grew so well I decided to give it up and go fishing with family, friends and especially grand children. I became disabled as a United Methodist Pastor IN 2002 and retired here in Coastal Georgia on a 10 acre lake where I continue to fish despite my disabilities. My wonderful wife and I enjoy fishing together. God has blessed us in so many ways and we pray the same for you. I am excited about having so many new friends all over this great country.

    Hunt76.

The last few times I went to Doe Run I havent had much luck. Southgate has been pretty good for catfish. I really don't know of any hot spots for bass or panfish. I usually have the best luck in neighborhood ponds for those species. The creek that runs behind Prisoners park i**** or miss for smaller fish. There is an old pay lake on 3L behind the White Castle factory. There are some big fish in there if you can locate them.

I am still here, for now. I have had one surgery after another for several months and have at least one more to go before I can go fishing again. This is the first year in as long as I can remember that I have not caught a fish.

Jerry2, Sorry to hear about your struggles with back surgery.  I can appreciate where you are with it.  I just wanted you to know that I will be praying for you during your surgery.  I have had both knees replaced, hip surgery twice, three operations on my back, rotator cuff surgery and looks like I am a candidate again.  I am a retired pastor and Life Member of NAFC.  God has allowed me to pray for members I might never meet.  My prayer for you:  "Dear God,  Take Jerry 2 into your arms and let him know that you hold him in the Palms of your Hands.  Be with all those who will care for his body during surgery.  Let the hands of the surgeon be your Hands.  Anoint all of those present with an unusual outpouring of your healing powers.  Be with him as he regains his strength and mobility.  Take his pain away as you did our sins upon the cross.  We give you praise and glory for his healing in advance of the surgery.  Draw him ever closer to you!  Be with his family and friends as they become a part of this very special moment in his life, surround all of them with the assurance of your presence.  We pray these things in the wonderful name of Jesus!  Amen and Amen" God Bless you!  Uncle Tom

Thank you Tom (I am assuming that is your name) for the prayer, bless you brother! I started my journey with the Lord 5/16 of this year and since that day I have felt his presence with me, so I know he will be with me during the surgery. Let me know if or when you need surgery again. Your Brother In Christ, Jerry II

Hopefully, won't have to have any surgery in the near future.  Doctors say I'm not strong enough anyway.  Thankfully, we know the Great Physician!  Excited, to hear about 5/16!  I say it so often it becomes almost second nature:  "I know I am not all I ought to be but Thank God I am not what I use to be!"  I sense something very special is about to happen in your life.  Know without a doubt that He never shuts a door that He doesn't open another.  All we have to do is step in!
Looking forward to fishing again--maybe one day we can fish together.  Uncle Tom  "Fishers of Men!

I had the same thing back in 1991.  It had gotten so bad, that I could not walk by myself.  After the surgery.  Things got so much better, that I could hardly believe it.  I was fishing 2 weeks after surgery.  It did take a long time, for complete recovery.  I was told, that it was because(17 years)I had let it go so long.  And that I was lucky, that I could still use my legs.  I got back, much of what I had lost.  I am now 71, and can still fish from my boat.  Not every day.  But I have been getting out, once a week.  I will pray, that you have the same result.  And recover from all of your injuries.

Jerry, Hope your surgery went well yesterday!  We were thinking and praying everything went OK.  My wife's folks live mostly around La Grange just north of Louisville on the way to Cincinnati.  Not only did I catch a wonderful wife in KY but about forty years ago I met a friend who introduced me to rod building.  I still have the original rod on a Fenwick blank with rose wood adjustable handle and titanium eyes--lots of great memories.  Maybe we'll run into one another some day.  When you are able let all of us know how your recovery is coming.  Your brother!  Uncle Tom
