This Is My Formal Apology. I have learned something in the past few days, that has really brought light to my eyes. Best to get the WHOLE story before flying off the handle. My Welcome Package as a Life Member was detained at my want-to-be post office! They have been detaining it for almost a week now, they are "claiming" that i would not respond to the call paper supposedly left in my box by the mail carrier. But, i have yet to receive the supposed call paper..... So to all involved, PLEASE. Accept My Apology, I'm Sorry, Robert McLaughlin

I love to fish, both fresh and salt water. For the past ten years ,there has been a size limit on summer flounders. Currently it is 18" to 19" depending on the State. For years we have been throwing back the shorts. Supposedly they should come back larger next year. But every year as the size limit increased, we still threw back 90% of the fish caught. Where are all the fish we threw back last year? The seasons were also shortend and the best time for larger fish (late Sept.,Oct.) were closed to recreational fishing. But here is the kicker. The commercial fishing fleets can fish all year and their size limit is 14". Anything smaller get tossed even though already dead from the nets. In other words the recreational fishers by throwing back the shorts are only filling the nets of the commercial boats , that is why so few larger fish come back the next year. And it is getting less every year. Soon the commercial boats will make flounders near extinction just as the have done to the northern weakfish and previously to the stripped bass. It was only due to a suspension of commercial fishing for the strippers that they have comeback, and now the are in danger again. If the powers to be really want the flounder and weakies to come back, they should look to the commercial boats that are the real culprits. But I'm a guy who loves fishing, what do I know.

RGALDO,  Same book, just a different chapter!  I am afraid there is no hope for the likes of dyed in the wool fisherman.
Its all politics!  Check out who puts money in the pockets of regulatory commissioners pockets.  Certainly not commercial fisherman, they hardly make a living.  Politicians who dance to the tune of highest bidder and most of the bidding takes place in luxurious hideaways that make our honey holes look like an outdoor toilet and it stinks for the same reason.  You do know the definition of "politics" don't you?  Comes from two root words: "poly" which means "many" and "tics" which means a blood sucking parasite.  Don't have to be English major to figure that one out!  Uncle Tom
I built my own lure company as a young man--thus the name UncleTomsJigs. It grew so well I decided to give it up and go fishing with family, friends and especially grand children. I became disabled as a United Methodist Pastor IN 2002 and retired here in Coastal Georgia on a 10 acre lake where I continue to fish despite my disabilities. My wonderful wife and I enjoy fishing together. God has blessed us in so many ways and we pray the same for you. I am excited about having so many new friends all over this great country.

I went thru a similar problem with the Life Membership. Never got the promised last gift. After months of phone calls finally demanded my money back. Eventually they did return the fee. I joined again last year paying a three year membership but only got credit for two years. Called and they claimed it will be corrected. However, they just invited me to become a Life Member, but only credited me for 2 years. Evidently their record keeping leaves much to be trusted. Beware!
