Are White Bass included in the "Panfish" category?

I consider them bass category, but since there's the Striper & Wiper category, I would ask questions about it in that category.

Interesting point. When most people talk about 'bass', they are refering to smallmouth, largemouth and spotted. These species are actally not true bass (scientifically) but part of the sunfish family! True bass like the White and striped are in a different family. Due to the fact that white bass can reach 4#+, maybe discussion belongs in Stripers and wipers. Tom

I guess that is true. =)

I was thinking classification of species such as sunfish, which includes largemouth and smallmouth bass. White bass are in the bass family.

But all would be "pan" fish i guess.

Yes, they are a pan sized fish, however, for forum discussions, I would post about them under the "striper and wiper" forum heading as they tend to school with stripers and wipers are a hybrid of stripers and whites.

I would concure that they would be under the wiper and striper heading. however a panfish is a broad catagory, like Kalang said "it's anything that fits in a pan" and that could also include trout and catfish but I think for this purpose panfish would be crappie, bluegill and whatnot.
