I saw an add in a magazine a few days ago about weedless crankbaits.  I'm pretty sure they're not what they seem.  What's your input?

If it's the bass weedless crankbait with the arm attachment in the front to the lip, it's been a fews years since developed. I forget the name of it.

No, it's the one with the hook guard on each barb of the treble hooks. I only saw it in one issue of the magazine.
    Keep looking...TIGHT LINES!

It has wire guards on each of the trebles too. I believe it was in one of the Club Magazine issues, but it was in Bass Masters Magazine as an article when it was being developed.

I think I saw it in an In-Fisherman issue.

Those wired weedless trebles reminded me of the ones used on the banjo minnows.  I tried the weedless trebles on other lures and simply had no hook ups so I gave up on them.  The concept is good, but I need a fish to really chomp down on the lure and I will really need to give it a hard hookset.  Only pikes have really hard chompers that I've encounters but still I'm not going to fish for them in the weeds.  Well dogfish have hard chompers too.

I like the concept, but it's just not something I have time to put to use.

Never heard of or tried weedless crankbaits. I wouldnt want one anyways though. It would probably reduce hook up percentage and besides, popping cranks out of grass can trigger bites.
I swear, it was this big (---------------------------------------)

Snagproof did make a weedless crank, it had a bill to provide dive and wobble. The double hook was protected by the hollow body
