In Ohio water temps are between 80-83 degrees at this point. The Shad are bountiful, and pulling Bass out now is a real chore, especially any with size. We have been fishing with Jigs w/ Chunks usually watermelon crawls, or others. I have also thrown nearly every spinner, Buzz, Top water, and Crank bait. Between 3 guys last week in about 6 hours we pulled out 13 small 12-14" Largemouth.
Does anyone know how to raise a spark in these Bigger Bass??? Help!!!!!

I live in Indiana we have had a warm humid summer too I've been doing most of my fishing after dark, when the fish move into shallower water to spend the night feeding. Have been doing a little better size wise been getting smallies in the 17to 20 inch range. I'm going out tonight to see what happens.     MCOPELAND1

In keeping with the westward movement, here in Illinois things are about the same, the larger bass I have been getting have come off a deep weedline but only down 2-3 feet. Some lakes the bass are in shallow cover especially if there is shade. Tom

Read I think in Bassin Magazine: KVD says in the hot days he fishes hard with big baits.  KVD says fish those big baits in the shallows as well because those lunkers are looking for one easy meal without exerting much energy.  Of course, he likes those lipless crank baits that he can drive to the bottom.  I have real good luck with gold version of sexy shad in all sizes but the big one has really produced bigger fish right now for me.  Caught several nice bass last week that were suspended at 12 feet in 24 feet of water.  Underground spring pushes up in this end of  pond and runs diagonally across 10 acre pond.  The current works almost like a underwater creek but water is cool because it is spring fed.  Fishing is good early and late but surprisingly good in middle of day but who can take the heat?  Maybe, you young fellas but I can't handle much more than a hour of it.  Thankfully, I can see the house and know the AC is on.  Good luck and good fishing!  Uncle Tom
I built my own lure company as a young man--thus the name UncleTomsJigs. It grew so well I decided to give it up and go fishing with family, friends and especially grand children. I became disabled as a United Methodist Pastor IN 2002 and retired here in Coastal Georgia on a 10 acre lake where I continue to fish despite my disabilities. My wonderful wife and I enjoy fishing together. God has blessed us in so many ways and we pray the same for you. I am excited about having so many new friends all over this great country.
