Heading up to Lake George next week, I was wondering if anybody knew of any hot locations I can take my daughters to too catch few large or small mouth bass.  Landmarks would be very helpful.   Thanks

It is hard to answer your request with landmarks and such when I don't know where you will be located on Lake George as it is a 32 mile long lake and I also don't know if you will be fishing from shore or boat. First I will assume you are visiting the southern end of the lake and staying at the many motels located there. The southern end of the lake is very busy so you wantto fish early in the day before all the recreational boaters are about. I will tell you that a boat is almost a requirement to fish this lake because access is limited by private property along the entire shoreline. A boat will give you access to the lake and the islands and many different bays where you can locate points and rock piles and that is where I would seek the smallies. The largemouths will be in deeper water this time of the year.

If you do not have a boat... there are places to rent one at some fairly steep prices. Instead of renting a boat, I would investigate the local charters that will fish for Lake Trout, Salmon and/or Bass. There are a number of them and I personally know a few of the charter captains, so I do not want to suggest or promote one name over the other. They are all fairly good folks and will give you and your children a good day or half-day fishing trip that will be remembered.

Wonder, how many Lake George's there are?  Two great ones in the Deep South, one in North Florida and another between Georgia and Alabama known by Alabamians as Lake Eufala and by Georgians as Lake Walter F. George.  Both are great fishing for most any kind of pan fish and great for Large Mouth Bass.  I had great days on both!  Uncle Tom
I built my own lure company as a young man--thus the name UncleTomsJigs. It grew so well I decided to give it up and go fishing with family, friends and especially grand children. I became disabled as a United Methodist Pastor IN 2002 and retired here in Coastal Georgia on a 10 acre lake where I continue to fish despite my disabilities. My wonderful wife and I enjoy fishing together. God has blessed us in so many ways and we pray the same for you. I am excited about having so many new friends all over this great country.

32 Lake Georges'.  I will be at the one in Upstate New York,  I will be staying at the south end of the lake, and meeting family friends, so if not toooooo expensive we will be renting a pontoon boat, and fishing and swimming from that.  I want to thank all of you that answered my post, I have never caught a smallie but I have heard they put up one hell of a fight.  Can't wait,  Since this is a family vacation I hope to hit Saratoga Racetrack, for a couple of races, and Great Escape's Amusement Park, the girls love these places... Thanks again......

If you are staying at the southern end of the lake, try going in the boat up past Dunham's Bay, there is a point up there that has great smallmouth and pumpkinseed fishing. It's not the point with the little boathouse on it, but the one further north. (I was just in Lake George about 3 weeks ago, and it was very hard to find this place again after going into town for lunch) I recommend using spinners, spoons and senkos for the fish around there. Also, there is a pier in between the Minnie Ha-ha and one other boat that is very fishing friendly. There are lots of (very wary) smallmouth and largemouth around there, and it doesn't require a boat to get to. Have a great time!
