For this upcoming ice fishing season.  Two Thorne Bros. custom 32" rods with the newly released 2010 Shimano Curado 50E's.  One is spooled with 6# Gamma and the other is spooled with 10# Fireline.

Now I'm gonna really give those Chubby Darters and those garaged lures of mine a really good run.

Older fly reel set up.  It's an Okuma Vashon 3/4 reel mounted on a Jason Mitchell meatstick, broken tip but repaired tip eye.  An inch and half shorter and seems to be more responsive.  This rod is set up for the more finicky fish.  Fly line backing and 2# Gamma ESP ice line.

The fly reel is the epitome of finesse. I still need to find the 'perfect' rod for it.

I bet it will be fun to put a few fish on the ice with that set up.

Yeap, the fly reel is an old method. Just long forgotten and now updated with adjustable drags and large arbors.
