I just got a little fishing time in a 2010 Bass Cat Puma FTD. I posted my impression to other bass cat owners here: http://basscatowners.yuku.com/topic/14167

    Cheers,

    Scott

Sscott those are some darn nice fish, coulda used a few like that this past weekend. Bass Cats are OK, but I'm a Triton guy. Wouldn't own anything else.

Thanks for compliments on the bass, Harry! No matter what boat you're in, a few good catches are what really make a fishing trip worthwhile.

Triton and Bass Cat have always just had two different approaches to bass boat design, but the two companies have remained friendly competitors. I grew up fishing in Bass Cats and have just got to the point where any time I fish in another boat brand, I'm mentally comparing it to a Bass Cat. For you, it's probably the same way for Triton. They're both definitely the kind of boats that their owners are passionate about. Kind of like Ford and Chevy (or maybe Lincoln and Cadillac, considering the price tags on bass boats these days).

Did you hear about the recent sale of Triton? The company that owned Ranger, Champion, and Stratos filed for bankruptcy and they were scooped up basically for debt. That was a little while ago. Just a couple weeks ago, the same company that scooped those bought Triton as well. All production is being moved to the old Ranger plant in Flippin, AR. I'll be happy when the bass boat industry finally stabilizes. The sales and bankruptcies are getting hard to keep up with!

Anyway, thanks a bunch for the comments on the fish, and I'm glad you enjoyed the pics and the boat review!

Yea Scott I did hear about the sale of Triton. I fish in a large bass circut here in the NW and I'd say 90% of the boats are Triton and the joke is that when the move the Triton plant to AR. the new boat will be called Tranger lol. And yes I'm like you when it comes to compairing boats. I had a Skeeter for years and when I got my Triton there was no compairison, the Triton performs way better than Skeeter in ride and comfort. However I had a chance to fish a small open tournament this past weekend and I fished out of a friend os mine's Champion and I was very impressed with the ride in ruff water. It was very pleasent. Not as good as my Triton LOL.

Your right about the price tag of boats these day's I thought I was nut's for paying $52,000 for a bass boat a few years back, BUT that same boat today is $72,000 OUCH!
so I think I'll hold on to mine for awhile.

You boys talking about boats or houses?!  Just joking, I remember my first bass boat close to forty years ago--it was a Bomber and lived up to its name.  Then I went to a ProCraft that honestly met all my needs but a man ran a red light on my way home from tournament and me and the blazer made it through but I knew something was wrong when the Pro Craft passed me without the trailer--stopped 2 feet from gas pump at convenience store(there was one of those guardian angels sitting on it).  Next was 21' center console called an American Chief which let me fish inshore and fresh water--don't know if they still make them.  My Dad and I bought a fiberglass crappie master together that hauled more fish home than it was suppose to.  In the midst of that the factory burned and BPS replaced it with a aluminum version.  Finally, I bought a Skeeter that was the boat of my dreams until a friend won a Ranger Comanche at Buckarama  and convinced me I needed it more than he did.  Looked just like the one Orlando Wilson won all those tournaments in--thought there was something to it since the first tournament I entered I won the tournament and big fish prize.  Paid one payment in one day.  Next I sold my offshore boat. slowed down and converted a 16' aluminum welded boat into my version of bass boat and I'm still fishing in it but the moral of this story is:  "My wife finally has a house to live in just like she always wanted!"  Now that you mention it, just the other night she said something about "skeeters" on the lake--maybe she was giving me a HINT!  Where did you say they make those "Skeeters?"  Can you get one with a  BIG YAMAHA THAT SPITS WATER WAY UP IN THE AIR?  Uncle Tom    "Yes dear, I'm coming--just talking to the fellas!
I built my own lure company as a young man--thus the name UncleTomsJigs. It grew so well I decided to give it up and go fishing with family, friends and especially grand children. I became disabled as a United Methodist Pastor IN 2002 and retired here in Coastal Georgia on a 10 acre lake where I continue to fish despite my disabilities. My wonderful wife and I enjoy fishing together. God has blessed us in so many ways and we pray the same for you. I am excited about having so many new friends all over this great country.

they are made in Kilgore, Tx and yes you may have a big Yamaha that spits water in the air and tell your wife I said it was ok for you to get one. My first bass boat was a 12 ft. Duraboat I made into a bass boat, a little hard to control in the wind but I managed. Then I bought a Skeeter ZX185c and It was a great boat and caught lots of fish out of it and won a few tournaments in it. Then I made the mistake of asking a friend to take my wife for a ride in his Triton Tr 21 and that was the end of my Skeeter. Believe me I pleaded with her to keep it but she insisted and twisted my arm real hard. Well you know how women can be at times and I finelly gave into her wims and bought her a 2006 Triton Tr20x with all bells and whistles. Man my life just sucks having to be married to a mean woman like that.

Scott, before you get married you'll need to look around first, but be very careful.  Several years back I took my young son to the grocery store.  As we shopped I noticed a young woman in those "Daisy Mae" type of cut off jeans with fish net stockings on and kind of see through blouse tied around her waist and a pair of six inch heels.  She was paying careful attention to the dairy & egg section.  I'd led my son away and then check back myself to see if she was still there.  To make a long story short, this went on for several minutes.  Finally, we checked out and put groceries in truck.  Shortly after putting the groceries on kitchen counter my wife exclaimed:  "Why in the world did you buy six dozen eggs and three gallons of milk?"  which leads me to small ad in paper:  "Interested in meeting beautiful young lady who owns bass boat and likes to fish--Please send picture of the boat!"  Watch Out! Watch Out!  Now we know why they invented blue jeans!
