First let me welcome you to the forum. Most of the salmon fishing I have done (when I use to fish for em) was in the San Juan Islands and I know it is different in the salt chuck than in the river. Not sure where in Washington your from but I know that most of the fisherman I'v seen fish up river by the Verneta Bridge below the Priest Rapid Dam. I know that some of the one I talked to use hearring and egg sacks and spin-glows. You should check out a tackle shop near you and see what they say to use. I have fished for them in the Skagit Raver and we used Kwick Fish type lures. Maybe they will work on the Columbia???
