We were having a really slow day at Carnegie Lake in Princeton, NJ before this sucker hit. He caught us all off guard and we were freaking out when he jumped out of the water and we all saw how big he was. When I hooked him he swam straight at the boat so I thought it was a small fish because I didnt feel much pressure. Then we saw him and he made his run for it. Went straight under the boat and if not for my friend Dan's skillful manuvers at the motor we would have lost this beast. He was a good 4 inches longer than from my elbow to the tip of my middle finger. I can only guess at how much he weighed, but I know he made my arm hurt from holding him up for the pictures we took. We snapped these photos and put him back for someone else. Oh and if you're wondering why I was in my underwear, we got bored earlier and resurrescted a sunken sailboat which we found, drained out, and unraveled the sail, and dragged behind us for the third guy in our cramped 2 man canoe. My shorts got wet in the process. Great day, great fishing

CONGRATULATIONS CHONG!  Great Fish and some really nice photos that will last you a life time.  Mighty big fish for New Jersey.  Had to tell size from picture but I am pretty good at guestamating. It looks to be at least eight pounds and maybe as much as twelve.  What is the New Jersey state record?  Give us a good measurement in length--wish you had measured the girth.  You can come to pretty good size with those two measurements.  The fish looks real healthy and the sail boat doesn't look bad.  Noticed the stomach area of fish looked empty which might give you a couple more pounds when she is spawning.  With the picture most taxidermists can make you a good replica to hang on your wall.  Why not sit down and write a story to the best of your memory:  Chong and the monster!  Good luck and great fishing!  Uncle Tom
I built my own lure company as a young man--thus the name UncleTomsJigs. It grew so well I decided to give it up and go fishing with family, friends and especially grand children. I became disabled as a United Methodist Pastor IN 2002 and retired here in Coastal Georgia on a 10 acre lake where I continue to fish despite my disabilities. My wonderful wife and I enjoy fishing together. God has blessed us in so many ways and we pray the same for you. I am excited about having so many new friends all over this great country.

    thanks everyone!

Uncle tom: The state record is 10lbs, so i think i might have cut it pretty close. The fish was about 25 inches long, i'll need to do some serious saving before i can visit the taxidermist haha.

it was funny though, how we all lit up the minute we saw how big he was. the three of us were all scrambling around desperately in the canoe in a frantic effort to land the fish. I kept shouting at my friend dan when we got him beside the boat "if you dont land this fish im gonna throw you out of the boat man!" he reached in with both arms and hugged the bass into the canoe, and we all broke into cheer. it was a very exciting day haha.
