it mimics a minnow with the spinner blade and the grub body adds bulk.
i don't by the beetle spin brand name. but i buy different size shape and color jigs. along with the safety pin spinners in 3 different sizes along with different colors. then off coarse the grub bodies, i get from 1" to 3" grubs with all kinds of colors and shapes.

there is 3 basic shapes of grub tails that seem to work for me......the standard curl tail grub, the paddle tail and the 1 that is a straight tail. the straight tail looks kind of like a tootsie roll, but each end is of different size around. the small end is only half as big around as the bigger end.

    Maybe:

The flash from the the spinning blade. The sound and/or vibration given off by the spinning blade. The erratic pulsating jiggle of the jig imparted by the vibration from the spinning blade.

I have started to use these alot lately and have been experimentinh with different plastics other than the one included and have found a curley tail grub to work well. not only by adding bulk and being able to slow down the retrieve but it also adds action.

Right on!  Beetle Spin concept is great and is only limited by our imagination to modify them.  I started saving old plastic worms to cut into small pieces and put in place of original grub.--got started when I could not find any June Bug colored grub and then one day it hit me, they been laying their on the boat deck or in my tackle box all the time.  Great color for those crappie people call slabs.  You guys walking those creeks put a few worms in medicine bottle along with a couple extra outfits and you've got plenty of tackle and great fishing.  I try them from 1/32 to 1/4 and all in between, usually use hair on 1/64.  Good fishing, cool weather is a coming!  Uncle Yom
I built my own lure company as a young man--thus the name UncleTomsJigs. It grew so well I decided to give it up and go fishing with family, friends and especially grand children. I became disabled as a United Methodist Pastor IN 2002 and retired here in Coastal Georgia on a 10 acre lake where I continue to fish despite my disabilities. My wonderful wife and I enjoy fishing together. God has blessed us in so many ways and we pray the same for you. I am excited about having so many new friends all over this great country.

also the fish that will hit these rigs is endless. i've taken big fish like pike on them on down to the littles perch and gill ya think ya could catch on a hook. that list includes, trout-- rainbows, browns and brookies-- bass-- both large and smallmouths-- small carp, creek chubs, bullheads, dogfish or bowfins, the list does go on

Some methods other than KISS (keep it straight simple) retrieve.

Let the lure flutter down the water column.

Jigging the lure to make it hop through the retrieve, can solicit weed hiding fish to dart out at it.

Slow rolling the lure close to bottom, can call out to those fish holding on the bottom.

Twitch retrieve the lure to make the jig, jiggle along.

Wake the lure to cause a subtle surface commotion to simulate a fleeing baitfish.

It's a great bait to pick out the larger fish from the runts and potatoe chips.

I always figured these were nothing more or less than a small spinner bait and they do catch fish! I have also played around with live bait on a leadhead when things got tough. Tom

Jig spinners are a neat little addition to the tacklebox...and they can be bought many different places...with or without blades....and several different sizes and configurations.

    Jann's carries several different styles...

A few years ago they used to carry these in packs of 100...but I don't see them on there now

Do-It lead molds carry the wire contraption for use in their spinner bait molds.  I'm not sure but I think Lindy's also carry them more on the beetle spin size.  I, also, enjoy the single or double inline version.  Hildebrand makes a double inline spinner--I like the #3 Colorado blades in gold or nickle.  Uncle Tom
