    How's the fishing out there?
I'm in Gilbertville, so if you're ever venturing out this way to drop a line, let me know.

Thanks cat!---- Hi Shaggy, The fishing out here is O.K. Some spots better than others I just started fishing last year some I'm not a reliable source. I'll tell ya what though, I think catching a bass over 6 pounds in this area ( the north-east ) is very difficult. Walt

The Quabbin Res is out here and that is a great fishery for landlocked salmon, lakers, bows and browns. It also has a "Pond Side" which is very bassy water and hold some pretty nice fish.  There are also quite a few ponds and lakes that are pretty productive as well.
I do a lot of stream/river fly fishing also and between the Swift, Millers, and Deerfield rivers there's something productive at all times of the year.

Hey shaggy!! Just looked at the map. You're in central mass I see, and wow the quabbin res looks huge! Remember dude I just started fishing,so you lost me with "lakers bows and browns" I think you're talking about trout fishing right? And fly fishing looks hard , so I haven't even thought about that yet. I dont even have a boat. So right now all I'm doing is bass fishing from shore but it sounds like there are some good areas for that out there as well. Maybe I will venture out there one of these days. Walt

Yeah, the Quabbin is pretty big and yes bow, browns, lakers are trout. Although lakers, while being called lake trout are actually char.
Anyway, the pond side of the res is not huge at all and very easy to nagvigate and in my opinion has the best bass habitat. I have a canoe, but not a bass boat proper, some day hopefully. Luckly, you can rent boats at the res, which I do about once/twice a month. Hopefully this weekend, weather permitting. If you ever do make it out this way let me know. I'll be more then happy to show you some spots.

Yeah Pete that would be awesome!! Speaking of canoes, the last time I was in a canoe was about two months ago towards the end of the bass' spawning season, we ended up tipping the damb thing we both were in the water my tackle box was open so I lost everything. That was in the Norton res. We were done fishing and on our way in . It was our own fault we were goofing around I'll have to tell ya the whole story one of these days.So what kind of boats can you rent bass boats ?!! If you do go this weekend I'll be wishing you luck , Talk to ya later, Walt Oh yeah , I have a nice photo posted on " member photos" of a nice bass I caught recently, check it out !

Unfortunately no, they are row boats with a 5 horse motor.  Actually, my avatar/profile pic is me in one of those boats on the pond side.  To call it a pond is a bit deceiving as that pic was taken in the back/smaller part of it, but compared to the res proper, it's a pond.

Aye Pete! How was your weekend? Do any fishing? I kind of figured that it wood be rowboats for rent. But hey a rowboat is better than no boat right. And that looks like a good size fish you have there in your avatar photo. Was that this year? You should see where I've been fishing lately .Is there a word for a body of water smaller than a pond ? If there is thats where I've been fishing and I'll be dambed there are big fish in there. Walt

Nope, absolutely none last weekend Walt. Sad to say my plans unraveled like a poorly spooled reel.  This weekend for sure though.
How about you? Any action last weekend or this upcoming planned?
