i have just started fly fishing, anyone know a website i can learn more to fly fish?

I don't know any fly fishing sites, but I can recommend a terrific instructional DVD. "Basic Fly Casting" by Doug Swisher from Scientific Anglers. You can order it from Bass Pro Shops online. After studying this DVD and practicing his method, you'll be casting like an old pro. If you're not, give it up and buy a Zebco 33.(lol). Happy fly casting!

Hi bassfisher. there is a ton of good sites but a couple I know of are www.flyanglersonline.com and www.hatchesmagazine.com but bass or bass's recomendations are good ones. some of the websites have instructional videos but avtually having a DVD inhand is better in my opinion. also practice practice practice.

In regards to what to throw when, your best bet would be to hit up your local fly shop. The employees there should be able to put you on the right fly at any time of year. Doesn't mean that it will always work, but it's a good place to start the day.

If you can afford it a good instuctor that is certified by the FFF( federation of flyfishers) might not be a bad Idea. they can observe you and help you work out any bugs in your casting. You can check it out at www.fedflyfishers.org even if you do not go this way their website might be helpful as far as linking you to other sites. Shaggy suggested checking your local fly shops to find out about local hatches but they can provide a bunch of info on all sorts of things. These guys spend alot of time on local waters and are a great source of help.
