You're welcome guys. It's amazing how many baits remain "regional". But thanks to the Internet... we have the technology |

Found the website, now the question is Which color works the best? And what are we fishing for when we use this secret weapon? Thanks Uncle Tom

I became disabled as a United Methodist Pastor IN 2002 and retired here in Coastal Georgia on a 10 acre lake where I continue to fish despite my disabilities. My wonderful wife and I enjoy fishing together. God has blessed us in so many ways and we pray the same for you. I am excited about having so many new friends all over this great country. |

Dave, What in the world is a bait monkey? I understand about the color thing. I was just wondering since the Buckeye Lipless Shad has such a small selection of colors, there must be a "go-to-color" that you use more times than not. Our lake caters to blue & white or chartreuse, black & chartreuse, green & chartreuse and red & white. Uncle Tom

Bait Monkey is a coined saying for the urge to buy something...in this case more lures/bait that when you've already got plenty to use in your tackle already. LOL's Some people refer to it as impulsive buying. |

I think at one time or another we have all been bitten by the Bait Monkey. I know I have. I'll be in a bait shop see something, and say to myself man that would be a good smallmouth bait. Buy it, use it, a couple times, not catch anything and put it in the not a good idea bag. Now I have about 60 pounds of plastic baits I'll never use again. So I think I'll stay away from the Buckeye Shad and stay with my Cordell Spots. Harry |

I would imagine that the action is very similar to the Heddon Sonic...That is what it reminds me of! |

Davesett2000, hows it's action? Catch anything off of it? I haven't fished it ms101...as I deemed it a collectible. It's similar to what is currently on the website...yet it has the word's "Buckeye Shad" in raised lettering on the side....just like the early Cordell stuff among others. This is a good part of the reason I posted about this lure...and website. @ Harry...I will say this...and it wouldn't surprise me that you MIGHT agree....but SOME days on the water fish want something a LITTLE different. As far as lipless baits go...there are a multitude of companies that have produced them over the years. But how many companies that made these types of lures 50 years ago are still selling them? To me... longevity in sales tells me that the bait can produce JMHO @ turnip...it reminds me more of Bayou Boogie's / Pico Perch / Mad Minnows / South Bend Optics / Swimmin' Minnow types of lures |

Your right Dave there are times when they want something different and I never have it LOL. I started out with Rattle Traps and never ever caught a fish one on them, yea I know there are guys out there saying well they worked for me. I jsut never had any luck on them. So I tried the Cordell Spots and wamo I started catching fiah on em i even baught a bunch of Strike King Red Eye shads nothing yet but I'm still trying. You do have a good point about them still in business for 50 years and there are no others that have been going for that long. Please understand the bass fishing here in the Northwest is totally different than in other parts of the country. Things that work back east or midwest simply do not work here. I don't know why it just is. And I'm sure Buckeye Shad produces fish weathe it would here, maybe, maybe not. Harry |
