Yes they swim in schools and sometimes they're loners.

They travel in tight schools when they spawn, but other than that they usually travel in loose schools or alone.

They school pretty frequently in most places where I fish.  Mostly around spawning time.

I have seen some large loose schools but I think it was caused by food being concentrated in that small area.

I have seen large rather loose schhols of common carp but I think the schools were caused by concentrations of food in a small area.

Carp are disgusting! My dad told me when he was young he used to go down to the water's edge near the shallow water and wait for the carp to swim up and then he would blow them apart with a shotgun! Ha ha! Although, I don't necessarily condone this behavior, you have to admit it's pretty funny! No one I know likes carp!

Carp are great fish.  Put up a fight very few can compare to.  Mostly I see them in small schools or just one fish at a time.  Very sweet meaty taste too.

Asian carp are a scourge to many North American waterways and the fish threaten to infiltrate the great lakes. It only takes one fish to get in there and destroy the commercial fishing industry in those lakes. Just one reason I don't like em'!

We're talking about Common Carp, not the Asian Carp species that you are refering to.
