During the off season I am going to look at getting a new trolling motor. What are the dfifferences between the Power Drive and Terrova motor? Is the quality the same?
Thanks,
Andy |

Andy yes I'd say the quality is the same on them it just boils down to personal choice. |

Andy I'm not sure what a Terrova motor is unless it's a cable steering system! How ever I have talked to guys with the powerdrive system and they all tell me they wish the had never put one on thier boat. I've been told they just don't have the control or feel of the cable control systems. But that is thier opnion I've never used one so I'm not sure. Harry |

The Cost! LOL's The Terrova seems to have better premo's. Deployment lever styles seems to be easier to use on the Terrova's vs the Power Drive's. |

The difference between the two is in the stow/deploy mounting bracket and the foot pedal. My buddy has the Terrova, I have the Power Drive V2. Both are electric steer, and both work fairly well. If I had to purchase a new trolling motor, I would go with the Terrova because the mounting bracket seems a bit more heavy duty. I have to make sure the shaft of my PD V2 is clean or the cheap plastic deploy lever doesn't work very well. The nice thing about the electric steer versus a cable steer is the autopilot feature. You point it in the direction you want to go, push a button, and the motor stays on that course. I don't think that the cable steers will do that. However, since a gear motor steers the power head, it is slower and less responsive than a cable steer. Buy whatever your budget and preference allows. |
