Abu Garcia has came out for a new rod called "Verdict". I read this information in the Game & Fish Gear part of North Carolina Game & Fish magazine. They show 2 rods, spinning and a bait caster, both have adjustable handles that allow anglers to change the balance an style of their fishing right on the water. Additional features include a one-piece double- anodized aluminum screw -down for secure reel mounting and high density EVA handles. MSRP, $ 129.95 for spinning rods and $ 139.95 for casting rods.
Well I have purchased a rod from BPS last year and the price was $49.00 The handle has power hump grip cork, with adjust from butt of the rod to the middle was 12" the adjustable to 18". The rod adjustable length is from 1" to 7" ,the brand name on the rod Extreme 60 million model us Xps power-wall construction total length is 7' to 7'-9" bait - casting rod.
So my point is that Abu is not the first to make a adjustable rod and the starting price is ridiculous. For the in this economy as it is today. Cost of fishing equipment from boats, motors, trolling motors, to rods, reels and then lures fishing line and accessories. I don't mind a company to make a profit, but they need to realize the state of economy is in today. People just don't have the funds, so we need to stop paying for the high price equipment and show them we the customers are not going to pay for something could be used for food or clothing on our children and roof over their heads. I may have post this in the incorrect section. You all can agree or disagree that is your prerogative .

I to have one of the bass pro shops rods i've used it for 2yr's and it is a good rod. I agree with you that abu is a little to money for the average person to put that much money out in this economy....

In my opnion $129 is a little too high for a rod with an EVA handle. Myself I prefer cork handles on my rods. I have a couple rods I paid over $200 for and most were around a $120 each but I can afford to spend that kind of money on a rod, but not everyone can and a good bass pro shops rod form $50 yo $75 is a good deal. I have 2 Extreme rods I bought 7 or 8 years ago and they are still going strong. I use them as backup rods incase one of my St Croix's should happen to brake.

Anyway back to the EVA handles. I believe it takes some of the senseitivity away from the rod and they sometimes tare or slip on the rod blank unlike a good cork handle.

Foxman, I know what your talking about. But around Squirrel season or Deer season the weeds start gone down and then just put with leaves. My ex-brother in law lives on the ditch or sluice or canals. We use to fish and hunt all area with a electric trolling except when we wanted to go towards the river we used gas motor. We usually caught the bass near bridges and some old docks.
