Yeah it actually work real good. The garlic has a stronge small that attracts the cats to the bait. They eat it up.

Had a friend in Chula Vista, CA that use mackral (sp) fillets soaked in garlic and salt as his go-to catfish bait. I have read, in another post that salt toughens the liver.

I have used livers, shrimp, worms, blue gills, cut bait all soaked in garlic, vanilla, seasoning salt, worshester sauce. I chummed a spot with two week old shrimp plain with a couple of hotdogs and caught a thirty inch channel. So I do not think using all that extra stuff really makes that big of a difference.

It counts more when the fish aren't as active.

I like to drain the juice off the livers put them on a baking sheet and douse em good with garlic salt and let them sit out in the
sun for a day or two till they get kinda leathery so they stay on the hook better!

well i haven't tried the garlic and salt trick but i know for a fact that if you use rotten liver (if you can stand the smell and looks of it) is great but really really hard to handle with out vomiting lol. but if you use it and you dont get any hits from any type of catfish in a few minutes then there are no catfish in that hole...
