I live in Mishawaka, Indiana and we have a run of steelhead starting.Would like to know what you guys think the best baits to use ? The steelhead will be coming in from lake Michigan once the temperture is right. There will also be Chinook and maybe some browns showing up . Thanks for any and all hints and information . Matt (the union plumber/pipefitter from U.A. LOCAL #172)  Thanks .............

I have a friend who catches them on little cleos and one who only fishes his hand tied egg sacks. It depends on water flow and clarity so have a couple different types of lures on hand. See if there is a NAFC chapter in your state, they can help you the most.

Hi mattd are you fishing in the St. Joseph river for them? I've made the trip to Trail creek, near Michigan City a couple of times and my favorite lure for all trout is called Moonglow spinners. I like them because they will spin easily in the current so you don't have to crank them at a certain speed to get action like you do with roostertails or mepps spinners. I used to do a little pipefitting myself years ago, but now I am a member of the Steelworkers local 715. Good luck and good fishing to you my brother!
My lovely wife says: " give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day but teach a man to fish and you'll get rid of him on the weekends" Jeff> fisherman, father, and friend! Semper Fidelis!
