Hey everyone, need some help; I've got a 1989 Ranger 350V with the Johnson GT150 power plant. I'm having a problem with what I can only call a "lean pop" or "cough" at idle?? And just started last weekend it won't plane off, it runs at idle and up to about 12-15 MPH but as it planes off the motor boggs down and dies?? Any thought??

rebuild your carbs , Sounds like they are gumed up. It is typical when it sits up for a period of time.

Start with a new fuel filter and a fuel pressure check. Sounds like a starvation problem and the filter is the cheap and easy check! Tom
