The MOJO of the TIE is back in Oregon.  Sunday while the TIE was in transit, we fished the Siletz River.  Beautiful cold 27* day, with very good water.

That's me at Moonshine Park.  There were no fish on this day.
Yesterday, with TIE in my wader pocket, we scored.  Unfortunately, when native fish are being handled, there isn't time to rummage around in pockets as we are trying to get them in and back in the water as quickly as possible.  Quick pic on the first of my three landed fish on the day.

Two other fish were lost to knot failure after good battles.  All of my fish were taken on my jig patterns, using a new rod I built on a NF Composites blank.  North Fork is the new company of Gary Loomis and these blanks are solid performers.
Enjoy, more to come.

The MOJO of the TIE continues.  The TIE's pic (taken yesterday with me) is supposed to be sent to me tonight and I'll post it tomorrow.  But here is a fish that came to say hello today.  One of the boys was my partner today and came up with this bruiser.

The fish was 36" long with a 19" girth, est imated weight about 18lbs.

I figured I better get the TIE in one of theses pics, so here you go.  This nice little hen was the first and only fish for me this interesting weather day.  We had snow, rain, hail, thunder, and sun this particular morning.  Temps hovered around the 34* mark all morning.

The scenery is always spectacular in our coastal mountains.  Pictured are two of our "wild and scenic" rivers, the Nehalem to the right and the Salmonberry to the left.  All the runs of fish are native on these rivers, so C&R is required.  We fish from the far side of the Nehalem, gaining access on the railroad bridge just out of the picture on the right.  Three years ago, we had some major flooding and many mud slides in the area which took out major sections of track as well as the vehicle bridge crossing the Salmonberry, which cut off access to the lower 12 miles of river from the north.  We've had to choose which stretch of river to fish before leaving home to know which highway to take to the coast.

Today these rivers are 5' higher than last week and unfishable as one of our Pacific storms rolled in Wednesday.  The Nehalem is supposed to go up another 6' tonight and likely won't be fishable for another week or two.  We will find smaller rivers to fish once the rain stops and the water drops.

Thanks guys for the kind words.  Best pics?  Maybe, but I think some of the best are in my minds eye, when a camera wasn't handy.  After fishing this states rivers, streams, lakes, and the Pacific, there are so many places I've been, I only wish I could re-create them on canvas or somehow take pictures of them from memory.  I'm sure you've all been without a camera at one time or another and know what I mean.  We should be able to start fishing again by the end of the week, so maybe there will be a couple more to come.

Your looking well Dave. Great fish pics! Makes it easy to remember when I was out there fishing with you - it is so pretty out there and I just love the aqua color of the water

MG,
Good to hear from you.  "Steelhead Green" is the best color imaginable for us die hard Steelhead chasers.  It only gets that color in winter when the river level is just right.  It always gives me a warm fuzzy when I see it.
