Hey guys...heres one you may not see often. I was sent a Fishng Hot Spots Pro GPS chip to test, and I have a small problem. The e-mail I was sent asked me if I was interested in testing a new chip, and did I own a Lowrance HDS unit. I answered yes to both questions, and received my chip a few weeks ago. Here's the problem. When I read the instructions with this chip it said that this maping chip would upgrade my unit with the same data that comes with the HDS with lake insight.
Both of my units are Lake Insight Units.

Am I correct that this new chip upgrades a HDS unit to lake insight data, and if so how can I return it so someone else has the opportunity to evaluate it. I would hate to see someone lose out on an opportunity, and if I can't evaluate it I might miss out on a future offering.

Yes, the chip acutally has newer information than what's on the HDS units, but depending on where you live and fish you may not even notice the changes. The chip won't overwrite what's on your unit, so if you want the updated information you have to set the unit to read from the chip.
So, go ahead with the Field Test. We'll look forward to your report.
